Why 2BCSM Exists
To Honor and Serve God by Developing Fully Devoted Followers of Jesus Christ

Our Mission
The focus of our Student Ministry is:
• To reach today's students with the amazing love of Jesus Christ.
• To invite them to have a vertical one-on-one relationship with God while providing a safe and loving place for them to be themselves.
• To equip them to take a stand for Christ in an unbelieving world.
• To release them to the frontline to make a difference in every generation.

How We Will Accomplish This
ATTRACT non-believing students, guide them to WORSHIP God through their lives and EQUIP them for growth that they might CONNECT with each other and MINISTER to those around them.

We provide a safe and fun place for students to hang out and be themselves. We get to be ourselves too! And through us being ourselves, we get to share the gospel of Jesus Christ!

"People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them.  When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."  And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them."
Mark 10:13-16

Sunday Morning Small Groups (SMSG) 9:45-10:45am
This is our main ministry to take students out of the big group and put them into a small group. This will be a time of fellowship and sharing between students of the same gender and age. These small groups will be used for prayer, biblical discussions, and accountability. It is very important that students are allowed to grow in a small group atmosphere.  These groups meet upstairs in Building B.

2BU- Student Ministry University:
2BU is an exciting part of our ministry for students desiring to grow in their faith. 2BU will take place during the 5:30-6:30 hour at the Student Center. We have a variety of topics and studies available in 6-week intervals. This allows for students to be a part of two studies each semester and four studies per school year.
• Our goal is to have 4 study options available for students covering a variety of topics.
• Topics will include: Apologetics, Age/Gender appropriate studies, Precepts, Christian Worldview, Character Studies, Books of the Bible, etc.

The goal of these studies will be to help strengthen students' Biblical knowledge and encourage spiritual maturity.

2BCSM Girls Ministry:
Ministry to and for young ladies is a priority for our Student Ministry! Ladona Smith heads up our girls' ministry along with Erika Sams and many other ladies in our church. Teenage girls are faced with many pressures and temptations. Gender-specific Bible study and activities allow girls to develop relationships with each other and with mentors to guide them through these challenging years. Our goal is to help girls develop a deep love for Christ and to live out that love every day.

"Charm is deceptive and beauty disappears, but a woman who honors the Lord should be praised."  Proverbs 31:30 (GNT)

Student Worship:
Our Student Worship Band is a great part of our ministry.  Students are led in worship during AXIS by a band consisting of many of their peers.  Our goal is authentic, vertical, one on one worship of God our creator.  The worship band is a leadership team of students that work very hard to be an example of "lead worshipers."
Justin Hodges directs this part of our ministry and does a great job.  Students are invited at various times during the year to audition and participate with this team.

Off the Top:
Here at Second Baptist Church, we have an Improv and Drama Team called "Off the Top."  I think they are the best in the state, and I have seen a lot of drama and puppet shows.  J.D. Cariker heads up this team with weekly practices and direction.  Our "OTT" have been able to share their talents all over the state to audiences of 10 to 1000.  Tryouts happen each year and students that are cast for "Off the Top" commit to a year of service in that ministry.

Events:
We have a very active student ministry.  Throughout the year we have many different events that students can participate in.  Some are small and some are big.  Below you will find a sampling of events/activities that we participate here at Second Baptist Church…there is not enough room to list them all!
